Researchers at the University of Chicago are examining how high performance computer (HPC) users and facilities can reduce the amount of energy they consume. As part of this work, they are looking for participants for a survey on the energy awareness of HPC.Anyone who uses HPC resources is eligible to participate, so we are sharing the details with our HPC community in Aotearoa New Zealand.

On 19 September 2024, NeSI will help facilitate a virtual Introduction to Command Line workshop and you are invited to fill out an expression of interest to signal your interest in attending. Selected candidates will receive an email confirming their attendance along with other details for the workshop.Please submit your interest by EOD Monday, 2 September 2024.

Over the last few weeks, you may have noticed a few differences in the look and feel of our main Support channels.NeSI's Support team has shifted to using new platforms to power its user documentation and Support Desk. The change is part of an evolution of our tools and resources to better support researchers using NeSI's computing and data services.

ResBaz Aotearoa 2024, a week-long series of digital research skills sessions delivered online, has opened registration. More than 40 free sessions will run from 8-12 July, taught by researchers and specialists in research support. All Aotearoa researchers and postgraduate research students from ANY discipline are invited to look at the schedule and register for individual sessions.

Last week, Carpentry Connect 2024 was jointly hosted in the Trans-Tasman region by NeSI and the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC). This hybrid event was co-located with ARDC's Skill Summit in Melbourne.
