Now accepting interest: Carpentries Instructor Training 2025

The Carpentries is a global program to teach foundational computational and data science skills to researchers. New Zealand trains several potential Carpentries Instructor trainees every year and it is time to train a new cohort of future instructors.

Dates for the 2025 instructor training workshops are yet to be announced, but interested candidates are welcome to register their interest now.

What's involved

If you are interested in raising digital literacy in Aotearoa New Zealand by running local workshops (wherever you are based nationally), this training is for you!

This training session aims to achieve the following goals:

  • Introduce you to evidence-based best-practices of teaching.

  • Teach you how to create a positive environment for learners at your workshops.

  • Provide opportunities for you to practice and build your teaching skills.

  • Help you become integrated into the Carpentries community.

  • Prepare you to use these skills in teaching Carpentries workshops.
