Latest from the Community

Over the last eight months, a growing coalition has been gleaning new insights about the data in Aotearoa New Zealand's research sector. Working with Research Data Culture Conversation (RDCC) colleagues from Australia, as a community we’ve been exploring pain points related to how well we manage research data. We’ve captured our insights in Aotearoa's first "Macro View" of research data.

If you’re a PhD student in high-performance computing, AI, data science, and/or quantum computing fields, a new opportunity has been announced to showcase your dissertation work to an international audience and maybe even win a monetary prize.SupercomputingAsia 2024 (SCA 2024) has announced a special Doctoral Showcase where students can present their research in a 3-min presentation to a non-specialist audience for a chance to win up to $3,000.

From 16-20 October, members of the NeSI team attended the 2023 eResearch Australasia Conference to learn from peer experiences across the Australian sector as well as share insights from our collaborations within Aotearoa New Zealand. It was inspiring to hear and talk about:experiences and best practice around research data - locating it, measuring it, and managing it lessons learned and status updates on service management approaches to research products and infrastructures

A global consortium of scientists from federal laboratories, research institutes, academia, and industry has formed to address the challenges of building large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) systems and advancing trustworthy and reliable AI for scientific discovery.

SupercomputingAsia 2024’s (SCA 2024) call for abstracts is now open. Typically held in Singapore, SCA 2024 is coming to Sydney, Australia from 19-22 February 2024. This is is the first time SCA is being held outside of Asia and is being co-organised by leading supercomputing centres of the region, anchored by the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) in Australia.

As more domains integrate computational and data-focused approaches to the way they work, we're seeing research communities' needs evolve beyond traditional models of queue-based High Performance Computing (HPC).
