Since our last update, we've made exciting progress towards launching NeSI's new platforms at the Tamaki Data Centre.We've run our first field test of our new compute capabilities, are continuing to copy data to our new storage systems, and gaining insights from early access users. NeSI was proud to host NZ Carpentry Connect 2025 on Monday, February 10 at the University of Canterbury, bringing together the Carpentries community in a hybrid format—both in person at the Beatrice Theatre and online via Zoom.

Through NeSI’s platinum membership with The Carpentries, we have had 13 new instructors successfully complete their Carpentries Instructor Training certifications between October 2023 and October 2024! Congratulations to:
The Carpentries is a global program to teach foundational computational and data science skills to researchers. New Zealand trains several potential Carpentries Instructor trainees every year and it is time to train a new cohort of future instructors.The upcoming session will be from 29 April to 2 May (11am to 3pm NZT each day) and interested candidates are welcome to register their interest now.
As another busy year draws to a close, NeSI’s Support Team will be taking a summer break from 5:00 PM on 20 December 2024 to 9:00 am on 06 January 2025.During this time, NeSI platforms will be online and available, but non-critical support requests will be responded to when the team is back on 06 January.
