Job Opportunity: University of Otago seeking a DevOps and Integration Programmer
The University of Otago is seeking a Senior DevOps & Integration Programmer. This position, employed by the University of Otago, is a NeSI national role whose primary responsibilities are for the design and integration of end-user services for researchers and the wider NeSI team, aimed at enhancing research capability and efficiency.
As a DevOps professional you’ll deliver robust product deployments and secure integrations, play a key role for operational support escalations within the team, analyse service needs and product requirements, and work on product engineering and integrations. Working as part of a small remote team with functional management based out of the University of Auckland, you will be providing national solutions in the high-performance computing and eScience domain, working with colleagues across the country and internationally to develop and deliver state-of-the-art eScience infrastructure.

This is a specialised role, requiring a strong background with modern GitOps approaches and related automation tooling alongside ability to quickly dive into a mix of backend and frontend technologies.
Skills and experience
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent qualifications in a related discipline.
- Strong background of at least 3 years’ enterprise level IT experience.
- Experience with command line scripting e.g. BASH, Powershell, SQL.
- Programming skills in languages such as: Python, Java or PHP.
- Solid knowledge of networking – including switching, routers, BGP, vLANs, security, firewalls and load balancers.
- Any previous experience with HPC systems is beneficial but not required.
