Programme
Morning - 10am-midday - Seminar & Discussions
The morning portion will include an overview of what NeSI provides for researchers, and will focus on discussing scientific applications of HPC to the problems addressed by research groups in the room. PIs and researchers will be invited to contribute to an interactive discussion and to surface up any questions.
Afternoon - Individual Consultations
NeSI staff will be on hand to chat over coffee or visit your office to discuss matters specific to your research. These sessions should be arranged in advance by contacting Tim McNamara <tim.mcnamara@nesi.org.nz>.
Presenters
Charles Bacon
Charles is a member of the Bluefern team at the University of Canterbury. He is visiting from the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility and provides assistance to researchers to bring their codes over to an HPC environment.
Dr. Mark Cheeseman
Mark is a specialist scientific programmer at NIWA. He comes to New Zealand with a wide range of experience, including applying HPC to seismic modelling in Saudi Arabia. He is also the team leader of NeSI's Computational Support Team.
Dr. Ben Roberts
A computational chemist by training, Ben is a member of the researcher support team within the Centre of
eResearch at The University of Auckland. His role is focused on ensuring that researchers feel comfortable and productive on massively parallel systems.
