Hosted in Queenstown in February by NZGL with cohosts NeSI and REANNZ, eResearch NZ 2017 was a resounding success. 170 attendees came together from the research community around New Zealand and the globe to discuss the theme of "Shaping the Digital Future; Opportunities for Australia & NZ Science Communities."

From 24 – 27 October this year the 13th IEEE eScience conference will be held in Auckland. The objective of the eScience Conference is to promote and encourage all aspects of eScience and its associated technologies, applications, and tools.

News from NeSI and around the world for December.

We are delighted to announce the programme for eResearch NZ 2017 is now available.

The 13th International Conference on eScience 2017, due to take place in Auckland, New Zealand from 24 - 27 October 2017, is pleased to now invite submissions for papers and workshops for inclusion in the conference programme.

NeSI provides a range of services supporting researchers across disciplines at a number of institutions in New Zealand. On October 30 the University of Otago held a "NeSI @ Otago" event which was then followed by a two-day Software Carpentry workshop.

The last quarter has been a busy time at NeSI for training activities. On November 24 and 25, we helped run the first Software Carpentry workshop at Scion in Rotorua.

In November, the entire NeSI team gathered from around the country for a two-day team retreat at beautiful Karioitahi Beach south of Auckland.

NeSI has welcomed two new members to our national team recently – Albert Savary and Kumaresh Rajalingam.
