In late July/early August, I travelled to Chicago, Illinois to attend the annual Practices and Experiences in Advanced Research Computing (PEARC) Conference.The conference series provides a forum for participants in the research computing community to discuss challenges, opportunities, and solutions in ‘cyberinfrastructure’ (aka eResearch; Advanced Research Computing, Research IT). PEARC19 hosted more than 800 registrants, and more than 100 student attendees.
During 29-30 July, I had the opportunity to represent NeSI and New Zealand at the Australian eResearch Skilled Workforce Summit in Sydney, Australia.
On Tuesday, August 20th NeSI hosted a Webinar where attendees got to see how job scaling and testing can help NeSI users predict resource requirements for their full-size jobs. 18 users from across New Zealand attended live but anyone can rewatch the webinar or view the google slides by going to the links below:
NeSI is launching a new webinar series to give researchers some quick tips, best practices, and hands-on training for using NeSI computing resources, the national data transfer platform, and other digital tools for research. On 13-14 May 2019, The Carpentries welcomed 15 new instructor-trainees into the New Zealand training community. Participants from ESR, NeSI, Victoria University of Wellington, NIWA, Genomics Aotearoa, and Otago University completed the two-day training workshop.
