Case study - Retired but not forgotten: Algorithm research with a Supercomputer

"We are very grateful to NeSI for the use of Blue Gene and the supporting team. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to develop a culture of supercomputing and parallel programming at the University of Canterbury."

Professor Emeritus Tadao Takaoka, a recently retired computer scientist from the University of Canterbury, has devoted his research career to designing efficient algorithms for classical computer science problems – shortest path, data structures, combinatorial generations and subarray problems to name a few. A number of his works still hold the title of “best known” solutions to this day. Read more...

Introducing NeSI's Solutions Manager

Brian Corrie joined NeSI as the Solutions Manager in February 2016.

Brian's background is in Scientific Visualisation, having done his Master of Science degree in Parallel Rendering and his PhD in Data-centric Scientific Collaboration. Brian has been working in High Performance Computing and Visualisation since 1991, read more about Brian here.

eResearch Australasia 2016: call for participation now open

The tenth annual eResearch Australasia conference will be held at the Pullman Albert Park, Melbourne, from October 10 to 14 2016, and the call for participation is now open.

The theme for this year's conference is "eResearch - the next steps".

eResearch Australasia provides opportunities for delegates to engage, connect, and share their ideas and exemplars concerning new information centric research capabilities, and how information and communication technologies help researchers to collaborate, collect, manage, share, process, analyse, store, find, understand and re-use information.
