Workshop: Introduction to HPC Carpentry and Running Deep Learning on NeSI
Join us for a four hour online hands-on introduction to high performance computing (HPC) on a NeSI supercomputer, followed by 3 hour Running Deep Learning on NeSI session! Over two days, members of the NeSI Support Team will guide you through the fundamentals of High Performance Computing (HPC) and get started with running deep learning code on NeSI. Some of the topics included are:
- How to access the NeSI HPC clusters.
- Basics of high performance computing.
- Working with a scheduler.
- Accessing software via modules.
- Using resources effectively and responsibly.
- Requesting GPU resources, interactively or via the batch scheduler.
- Installation of packages, via environment module, Conda or Python virtual environments and Apptainer containers.
Day 1 will focus on Introduction to HPC on NeSI and Day 2 will focus on Running Deep Learning on NeSI.
All NZ based researchers are welcome to register.
Please note that participation in Day 1 is required to fully engage in the workshop activities on Day 2. The goal of this workshop is to help you start using the NeSI platform. So, come ready to participate!
Note: You will need to have a NeSI account in order to follow along. Instructions on how to apply for an account will be sent with your registration confirmation. If you have questions or would like more information about this session, please email support@nesi.org.nz
