Let’s plan a fun engaging Carpentry Connect event for NZ!
The New Zealand Carpentries community will be gathering online on 2 Dec to plan a day-long Carpentry Connect event as a pre-conference workshop to eResearch NZ 2021. Anyone interested in helping plan a fun and engaging in-person event is encouraged to come along to brainstorm with the community.

But what is The Carpentries?
The Carpentries is a community-centric organisation committed to teaching foundational coding, and data science skills to researchers worldwide. In New Zealand, the Carpentries community is growing as more institutions and universities run Software Carpentry, Data Carpentry, and Library Carpentry workshops and have staff attend instructor training. Most importantly, all members of the Carpentries community including workshop hosts, instructors, and learners follow this code of conduct because creating a safe space for learners is key to growing a healthy, supportive community. Check out the Carpentries website to find out more...
What to expect at the community call on 2 Dec?
It doesn’t make much sense to plan a Carpentry Connect event without input from the community, so on 2 Dec we will meet for one hour to brainstorm what this day of engagement and connection could look like. We are a fan of diverse perspectives and quirky ideas (last years attendees got to try out improv!) so please come along to share your ideas and meet other members of the community. All are welcome.
Do I need to prepare for this call?
Prep is not required, but If you have been to a fun event in the past or know of great team-building activities we’d love to hear about it! Jot down your ideas and come ready to share.
