Hamilton region - National HPC Roadshow

The University of Waikato is hosting a regional event for those researchers interested in applying HPC to their projects. Principal Investigators and their research teams from all institutions are welcome to participate.

The day will be held in Te Whare Tapere Iti, within the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, at the University of Waikato. Here are the travel instructions from the website:

The Academy is situated on the University of Waikato campus four kilometres to the east of Hamilton city centre. Parking is available via Gate 2b, Knighton Road, Hamilton, with the Academy a two minute walk around the campus lake. The Orbital bus service stops in Knighton Road, only 150 metres from the Academy, and routes 13 & 17 from Hamilton Transport Centre both stop on the University campus.

NeSI Presentation
An overview of high performance computing (HPC) and NeSI provided by NeSI's Director Nick Jones.

Demonstrations
NeSI staff will be demonstrating some of the features of the HPC facilities, explaining how it they can fit into a research project.

Afternoon Session

Introduction
Dr Jo Lane from Waikato University will be introducing the afternoon's session, with a brief overview of the university's eResearch Advisory Forum.

Local Case Study
Research fellow Dr Charles Lee will be providing an overview of his use of Waikato's own HPC facilities and his aspirations for the national facilities provided by NeSI.

Group discussions facilitated by the NeSI team
A chance for researchers to connect and discuss how NeSI can benefit their projects.

Staff from REANNZ and Tuakiri, the New Zealand Access Federation, will also be on hand to discuss the Science DMZ and Tuakiri respectively.
